Jensen: Well, there’s this guy, Jared Pada… Pada-something and they really are liking him for one of the brothers.’ So of course, I look him up online.
Jared: He thought I was hot.
Jensen: [laughs] This guy is smokin’ hot. I cannot play his brother.
Jensen: Jared and I are lucky to get along so well without having any effort to make. One day, the producers came to see us and told us they had never worked with actors who got along so well. It gives us the opportunity to make the relationship between Sam and Dean have credibility. I think the audience feels how much Jared and I like being together.
Jared: I think the reason Jensen and I got along so well was because we didn’t really go about bonding… It didn’t feel like a blind date. It felt like we were continuing a relationship as opposed to saying, “All right, we’re supposed to hang out with each other… or something.” We just sort of hung out… We just hit it off immediately. There’s no rhyme or reason to what happened.
Jensen: I can pretty much tell you a story about any aspect of Jared. I can tell you when he gets angry how he is, I can tell you when he gets sad how he is, I can tell you when he’s having a fight with a… you know, a girlfriend how he is. So, uh, I will say that with all those he is a very passionate person about what he does. He loves his family and friends, he loves his dogs… and they love him.
Jared: We ruin scenes sometimes by laughing too much. We work so late and sometimes we’re really tired, so it won’t take a lot to set us off laughing like idiots. In those cases, I can’t stop myself. All I have to do is look at Jensen’s big smile, which makes him look like he’s six and a half, and I can’t stop myself laughing.
Jensen: If you see that outtake you’ll notice that I’m laughing hysterically, probably more than I should be. But it was funny, because he was talking about, “Man, I’m like putting on this weight, and I’m retaining all this water,” and I’m like, “You’re such a girl, dude.” And then he does that and his pants rip, and I just couldn’t hold it in, it was hilarious. What an idiot.
Jared: …That’s when I split my pants… You know what my favorite part of that is? When Jensen laughs. He’s got the best laugh there.
Jensen: [Jared’s] a bit of a baby. I have to slap his hand away every now and again when he wants to hold mine. He’s also a very big baby…I’m 6’1” and he makes me look 5’9”. He’s 6’5”. I tell him I get to slap him whenever I stand on an apple-box.
Jensen: I don’t know… why are you telling this story?!!
Jared: I have to. Jensen… He is… he plays sports, he works out, he’s got a girlfriend. He’s kind of the manly kind of guy. He doesn’t look it, but… plays football and stuff…We’re sitting there and having a drink and stuff. And then Jensen kind of gets this funny look on his face, and then he goes, “Wait, stay still.” And then about halfway into reaching for my face, he realizes he is like reaching to grab my face and you see his face change to like “Oh I gotta get that” to “WHAT AM I DOING?”
Question: You have MBV in 3-D in theaters now and Jared has F13 coming out this month. Is there any sense of friendly competition?
Jensen: No not at all. In fact… [reaches for cell phone and goes through messages] he wrote, ‘Hey, dude, thinking about you, hope it’s going well. Kick ass. Enjoy.” No, we’re very supportive. I’m stoked to see his movie and he said he couldn’t wait to see mine.
Jensen: [to Jared] I was getting bored back there wihout you… I love when [Jared] comes on stage because I have to do nothing. This little ball of energy….. Maybe not so little…. yeah, Ginormous.
