Let’s not forget that Jensen and Jared can’t just “start their own thing”. Creation and the several other companies that organize con’s in other countries to exactly that – they have the connections with hotels, they are the ones who have the means to hold such a big event. J2 would literally have to start a convention company from the ground up, make connections at hotels etc. and I’d just like to point out that Star Trek cons were even more expensive at one point.

Anon 2: They can’t switch companies. They have a contract and frankly, there aren’t any other companies out there that could organize a huge con as thoroughly and with as much experience. They also can’t start their own thing or they never get out of the US otherwise. I know the prices are high but that is simply supply and demand. They’ve been doing the Con circle for years and more and more people come to these cons.
