I’ve been doing a lot of reading in the past couple of weeks. Like, A LOT. I go through times when I basically hide in books and fics. Just bury myself in them. So what the heck- might as well pass the savings along to you all. Heed the warnings on each fic- I’m not going to list them all here.
Wincest:
Do Roses Know Their Thorns Can Hurt? by homo_pink. An AU loosely based on the Time Is On My Side episode. VERY Tim Burton-esque and beautiful.
The Time Traveler’s Brother by gretazreta. This is an AU based on the book The Time Traveler’s Wife but it follows canon through season 5. It blew me away. I’m not kidding.
Pick Myself Up Off The Ground by wetsammywinchester. So Paula just goes ahead and publishes this wonderful wincest big bang story without any warning. Can you believe that? The nerve. A simple “HEY CANDI- I’M ABOUT TO POST A PERFECT WINCEST STORY SO BRACE YOURSELF” would suffice. Seriously though, Paula is a great writer and this story is so good. I mean, two Sams and one Dean? YES PLEASE.
J2:
Beginner’s Luck by bertee. This is a medieval adventure AU that’s so damn funny. Jared is a wannabe adventurer, Jensen is on the run. There are some tentacles involved, a couple of dragons, the usual.
Fight the Rising Odds by bertee. More hilarious AU goodness. Jensen is the prettiest guy in Olympia and all the gods want him. Jared is his best friend and constant companion who helps him stave off the entitled douchebags. Seriously. Funny stuff.
My Love is like to Ice, and I to Fire by _tiana_. Listen, I’m not that big into superhero AUs, but this was amazing. Jensen has the power of ice. Jared is all fire. I need this as a movie. NOW.
have you seen him whom my soul loves by veronamay. Have I recced this before? Possibly. I know I read it before but that didn’t stop me from tearing through the whole thing again. Priest!Jensen comes to town and meets Jared who’s supposed to be marrying Sandy. This is scorching hot. Just wow. I think my kindle melted.
Time of Your Life by sandymg. Jensen thinks he doesn’t need anyone and he certainly doesn’t need love. Then he gets in an accident and starts seeing his former best friend and lover everywhere he goes. It’s hard to explain but it’s lovely. Just read it.
Put the Heartbeat Back Inside by non_tiembo_mala. An AU based on The Bourne Identity. Jensen wakes up with no idea who he is. Jared is a university student who gets pulled into Jensen’s world. Have I mentioned I love AUs based on books and movies? Because I love AUs based on books and movies and this is a good one.
The Dizzy Heights series by whispered_story. Jared is left on the Padalecki’s doorstep as a baby and has no idea he’s fae until Jensen shows up and announces that 1) they’re betrothed, and 2) they’re in danger.
If you want a shorter, sexy story, try Ana’s non-AU fic based on this past year’s ACL. High for This.
Oh yeah and I don’t care much for mpreg but I devoured every single story by Fatebegins. The writing is so strong that I couldn’t stop reading them. I started with Above Us Only Sky and then just plowed through EVERY. SINGLE. FIC. Damn you, Lullys. You were right again.
