I thought originally slash fiction meant horror and has only recently come to mean m/my fanfic.

I don’t know. I read and watch a TON of horror and I’ve never heard that term applied to it. There’s a whole “slasher” genre which usually applies to your Michael Myers type bad guys who are human (more or less). But I think slash is usually only applied to fan fiction. I could be wrong though.
