I had heard they were going to strip everyone away from the boys who helped them. They talked about how it was too safe for them now because Cas or Crowley or Rowena were always there to help or bring them back from the dead or whatever. The sense of mortal danger was gone because they had too many fallbacks. I just didn’t think they’d actually do it. Wow.
