Supernatural, 11×11 // 14×04
Another great juxtaposition. Both of them are shutting out the world due to recent trauma, but even then their behavior is different. Sam hasn’t been able to sleep because of the Lucifer incident, so he remains proactive, trying to keep some sort of control. He insists that he’s fine, because he’s afraid that he if says he isn’t out loud, he’ll fall apart. He’s not dealing. Dean, on the other hand is seen laying in bed, wallowing in his sorrow and allowing the Depression Kitty to lay right on top of him.
If you don’t know that reference, check out Big Mouth on Netflix. It’s great. He indulges in fast food and his favorite movies, rather than focusing on work. He has resigned himself to not being okay, but he’s also not actually dealing with what’s going on inside of himself either. And that is just so… so them. What’s even lovelier, is the other brother in these situations knows that maybe trapping yourself away for a little while can feel good, but it isn’t a solution. Eventually, your going to have to face what’s eating at you, and that’s not gonna happen if you hide yourself away. It’s very Winchester of them not take their own advice.
