I was planning on being mad about this ep based on the previews but I’m not. Not about the brother stuff anyway. Sam died and Dean couldn’t save him. He had to save the civilians first. He was going back for Sam. It feels like a reboot of Red Meat (which Berens co-wrote btw) only Dean found out Sam was alive before he did anything about it. And I’m OK with that.

To her credit, Mary didn’t actually say anything at all because she knew she’d never change his mind. But you could see the worry and sadness on her face all through this scene while Dean got ready to go.
