Is it bad that I hate Sam is being tortured but I want protective Dean at the same time?

Yes, hello! You have reached the protective Dean hotline. I am here to help. No, that’s not bad at all. Please enjoy this fine selection of protective Dean moments to tide you over until the season premiere.

How about when Sam was doing the trials and Dean just wanted to tuck him into bed and feed him chicken soup the whole time?

When Sam was going to close the gates of hell but Dean couldn’t live without him so he was all “haha no”:

Last season when Sam was supposed to take on the Mark because… um… they ran out of story ideas?:

When they were in jail and a guy looked at Sam crosswise:

How about in the cage while Cas was fighting Lucifer and Dean was busy stroking Sam’s silky tresses, apparently checking for hair-related injuries:

Same deal, different episode. Dean has his priorities straight- DON’T LET HIS HAIR BE INJURED.

Or when Sam was all “SHOOT ME” to Metatron and Dean was like “WTF?? NO”

When Magnus tried to control Dean by hurting Sam (that worked out super well for him btw):

When Dean was threatening demons back in the good old days:

When Dean caught Gordon trying to shoot Sam and then bounced his head off a roof a little:

When Sam was hurt and Dean was a dog thereby giving him an excuse to make licking jokes later:

How about threatening to kill an entire family of scary creeps while he was tied to a chair:

Threatening Crowley is always fun and satisfying for Dean:

And finally, dying to bargain with a reaper for Sam AGAIN. Only on this show could that have happened multiple times:

And please remember that when asked by the Fangasm ladies to do a pose that reflected season 12, this is what Jared and Jensen came up with:

So prepare yourself.

I hope you found this helpful and please get in touch again if you are ever in need of protective Dean assistance.

After I showed my husband the season 11 DVD cover, he pointed out that all the covers are pretty silly. Here are some of his comments.

Season 1:

Season 4:

season 7:

Season 8:

My (overly thorough) analysis of the hugs from Alpha and Omega…

When Cas initiates the hug with Dean, Dean at first seems surprised and amused by it. Note the back pat, the smile, and the way he says “All right.”

Then Dean suddenly gets serious and I think it’s because it occurs to him that he has to ask Castiel to take care of Sam and not to let him do anything stupid (like following Dean into death). It’s a moment where he’s faced with his own mortality and the fact that he’s no longer going to be there to take care of his first priority: Sam.

When it comes time to actually say goodbye to Sam, they can barely look at each other. Sam’s eyes are full of tears and he’s close to losing it.

Dean grabs him and pulls him into a hug and his face is SO FULL of this fierce devotion and sadness.

Then comes the patented Dean Winchester “This hug is not intense enough- INCREASE HUG INTENSITY BY 300%” move.

[also seen in Lazarus Rising if you need another example]

And finally his expression somehow gets even SADDER (how is that possible??) and we can see the tears in his eyes as well. Poor Sam is just clinging on to his brother, burying his head in his shoulder, still trying not to completely break down.

They both seem heartbroken about having to be saying goodbye AGAIN and they’re trying so hard to communicate that without having to actually say it.

To sum up, bless this scene. It contains 100% of my daily nutritional requirement of beautiful, soul-scarring angst.

I want to watch some extra Wincesty episodes, can you recommend me some?

I recommend watching seasons 1-11.

Okay, I guess you want specifics.

You could start with season 1 and the pilot. Nothing like introducing the characters by having them roll around on each other in the dark, right? You should also watch Wendigo because

Jesus. Control yourselves.

Also Bugs for the first time they get mistaken for a gay couple, Salvation for their extremely close talking after Sam slams Dean into a wall, and so many more.

Season 2 is another veritable feast of Wincest. I gotta mention Playthings

and Hunted

and Croatoan, Born Under a Bad Sign, All Hell Breaks Loose part 2.

In season 3, I like the Magnificent Seven for Sam just walking right into the room where he knew Dean was having sex and for this look

Also Mystery Spot for Sam’s desperation to save Dean and No Rest for the Wicked which contains Dean’s speech about them being each other’s weak spot.

(This is getting long. I’ll just list some without gifs.)

Season 4: Lazarus Rising, Sex and Violence (because Dean’s siren is literally Sam), and It’s a Terrible Life (where they have their memories wiped but still end up finding each other and deciding to run off after only a couple weeks).

Season 5: I love Changing Channels and it has the scene where Dean is inside Sam (okay, yeah- Sam’s a car at the time but still), Dark Side of the Moon (canon soulmates), and Swan Song of course.

Season 6: Clap Your Hands if You Believe (Dean seems more jealous than pissed about Soulless Sam and the hippie chick), Appointment in Samarrah (AKA the fist time Dean had someone kill him so he could bargain for Sam), …And Then There Were None which I particularly like because of the way Sam and Dean freak when a door shuts between them.

Season 7: I liked Shut Up, Doctor Phil because Dean is couple counseling the witches but every word he says could be applied to him and Sam and The Mentalists (the scene about the Campbells being not really brothers and Sam and Dean coming back together after their fight).

Season 8: Torn and Frayed (they’re both so frickin’ jealous, Sam of Benny and Dean of Amelia) and Sacrifice for the Wincest wedding.

Season 9: Ugh. I hate season 9. I guess maybe I Think I’m Gonna Like it Here because Dean is trying anything to save Sam and Bad Boys which shows how Dean gave up a chance for normal to stay with Sam.

Season 10: EVERYTHING DEMON DEAN SAID TO SAM WAS FRAUGHT WITH SEXUAL INNUENDO. I’d recommend Soul Survivor because

About a Boy was pretty awesome too. And of course, Dean kills Death to save Sam in Brother’s Keeper

Season 11; You gotta watch Red Meat and Safe House and Baby and Don’t Call Me Shurley. It’s been another A+ season for us wincest-lovers.

Okay, that’s it. Sorry it’s so long. I barely scratched the surface really but I did my best.
