Jensen’s interview transcribed: I think one of the things that this show does very well is this kind of ever-evolving motivation between the two characters. You go back all the way to season 1 where Dean was kind of the driving force of wanting to find Dad and Sam being reluctant and not wanting to get into the life. And then it switches in season 2 where now Dad’s gone and Dean has kind of given up and Sam’s like motivated now and he wants to find it. That’s been from the Supernatural playbook since the beginning and I think we continue to do that because it works. But yes, Dean was certainly out of sorts at the beginning [of season 13] because he’d had a lot of loss in his life and he was kind of at a loss. He didn’t quite know which road to take and how to get there and what to do when he got there. Luckily he’s not going it alone. He has his brother.

They used this clip on The Talk and I would like to thank whoever picked it for reminding us that Dean putting stuff in Sam’s mouth and then taking pictures of him is canon. 😏😏😏

This scene is important, because we can see the look on Dean’s face when Sam asks if he ever thinks about quitting the job for a girl. It’s like he’s saying “Don’t you get it Sammy? I’ve got everything I’ll ever need right here. It’s only worth it if you’re by my side, little brother.”
