Anytime Jared Padalecki’s on set, there’s gonna be something crazy funny happening. He has a metronome app on his phone which does the classic ‘tic-tock, tic-tock,’ and you can speed it up and slow it down. So, during one of the rehersals for “Hello, Cruel World” he just left it on to mess with Jensen Ackles, who was on camera. Jensen just went with it, but the metronome affected his hips, and he started some pelvic thrusts. They’re doing the lines completely straight, the camera’s only on Jensen, and Jared keeps making the metronome go faster and faster. Jensen’s hips keep going faster and faster. We were just rehearsing, so I didn’t know the camera was rolling, but the crew is so in tune with the actors that if something’s funny they just roll the camera and they roll the sound, so we got a great thing for the gag reel. I hear a metronome now and I start laughing.
